Hyperventila Dev Blog #8
Hyperventila has come a long way in the past three years from a barely functional idea to a complex game with a large open world and even a multiplayer mode. I would like to thank all the people who have supported the game so far, your continued support and enthusiasm humble and exite me, it also helps to keep me going!
As I posted on Discord, I have recently completed yet another move from Italy to the Netherlands, where I'm originally from, and this has again taken away some time from development, as it always does. However I wouldn't let this deter me and the first thing I got to work on after getting set up was the final remaining piece of the Hyperventila puzzle; the Codex!
The Codex will serve as the player's guide through the galaxy as they delve deeper into the world of Hyperventila. See it as a kind of in-game wikipedia that expands on the lore of every planet you visit, every ship you fly and every major character you encounter.
Now this doesn't mean the game is done yet, far from it to be honest, however with the Codex in place the last major feature to be programmed is done. This means I can focus mainly on content creation and adding more and more life to the galaxy.
Speaking of adding more content. The last few weeks before moving I've been expanding on the number of vehicles by adding yet another ship to the game, the PFR-1 'Space Bug'.
This brings the total number of playable ships to ten playable ships. There is also an additional non-playable ship, the ZL-70 Rangemaker shuttle, which you will see flying around the world as well.
For all of you wondering when the singleplayer portion of the game is coming to the public branch of the game, I'm still aiming for the first singleplayer content to be released with the v0.1.7.0 build update (current build as of posting this article is 0.1.6.8).
Keep in mind that update will only include the open world and some side-missions, but no main-story related content just yet.
A work-in-progress preview of the Codex is scheduled to be released with version 0.1.6.9.
